My lovely generous husband allowed me to treat myself to a trip to the salon, to do my nails before the show. And it was very relaxing to sit there while the very skilled Kitty did her thing, cutting the cuticles, getting rid of my old pink color, buffing my nails and all that jazz (hands). I chose a classic deep red, which I LOVE, and I thought my character Nina would love too, as she, like me likes the Old timey Hollywood, and would appreciate a classic sexy red rather than modern day bling bling pink with sparkle and fading and shizzle, which I also like. But I Adore this red and it made me feel good, and close to ready for the show. When I got there my dressing room was filled with wonderful surprises of gifts cards and a rose! I was so happy and it makde me feel a lot better! A lady came in to the dressing room and took pictures for facebook, and since she didn’t ask for my permission to take photos of me, I didn’t ask to steal some of her photos for my blog 😉 We did our circle and warm up together before the house was open, and as you can see in this totally unedited photo, we created an enormous amount of energy. Then our beautiful stage was empty and the house opened, and people flooded in, including my lovely sister-in law and husband Rick. It’s not a thing they usually do, going to the theater, but… ENTER JASMIN 😉 I was so pleased as I sneaked a look from the side curtain, seeing them laughing during the performance. It’s a really funny show, and I would recommend it to people that don’t go to see plays very often, it’s a great first play! We’re lucky as we are so perfectly cast, and are a group that really get along well. I am so lucky, and enjoying every day! They got my name wrong… but you know. Don’t be a diva. Then it was over, and we quickly got out of our costumes and went outside to the after show party with champagne and pupu’s, and I was so happy to see everyone who came to see me! Annie brought her whole family, making me feel like I had my own family there to support me And my friend Dez from HTY came too! Jorge and Ian got a lot of attention of course, seeing as they are wonderfully talented famous actors, but that is GREAT publicity for our play. I was so pleased to see how happy and proud Danielle and Rick were. My besties all in one photo! HAPPINESS! Rick bought me flowers that matched my outfit, not even knowing I was going to wear purple! Lucas liked the play which made me very happy. Look at the small foxes on his shirt! Haha… David got well deserved praise for his Loooooooooooooong monologue in the play. A happy cast of actors celebrating a well done opening night. I can honestly say that I love them all, and I landed into the best part of a small community of theater, here in Hawaii. Look at me happily grasping my bag of white Lindt chocolate that Rick Got me! Rick remembered that I told him that my mum had this tradition where she would buy me flowers and a “smile” chocolate for all my opening nights. Cast and Crew all together. Danielle, Rick and I drove home chatting away about the play and I came home feeling very satisfied. I might not have my mum and my family and friends from home here, but I had my Hawaiian family and friends here. I am the lucky one.
