Just thought I’d post a delayed Halloween Greeting from Hawaii, from me and my dear husband We bought costumes online a month ahead, deciding that we wanted costumes from the Spartan movie 300.We celebrated Halloween at Rick’s sister Nicole’s house, in Schoiefield Barracks, where she lives with her husband John Thomas who works in the Army, her lovely daughter Amelia and little boy JT jr.Sadly their place is hard to get to by bus, and impossible by bicycle, so we depend on Nicole to pick us up to be able to visit them. So we don’t see them as much as we’d wish, but it was great to spend this festive occasion together. THey had a new puppy named Zeus, a cute lively Shiatsu. JT in his man-cave before he hit the grill to cook us our dinner. Although it looks like he is not alone….?The boys stirring up some food for our feast While Amelia was being a great big sister, feeding her baby brother. This was the BEST burger I’ve had in a long while. Mmmmm…..Then it was time for costumes, and JT jr was put into this ADORABLE dragon outfit paid for by Ricks generous mum. HOW cuuuute? ha ha ha.Rick felt (and looked) more than cool in his Spartan outfit. Although it looks like he took a bite of something more bloody than a burger… heh heh… WARRIOR FACE! FACE PAINT TIME! Amelia and I googled different green face paints to match her green themed costume. Grown ups like face paint too. This was JT’s own work… Creepy. Look at this pretty southern Belle! Rick’s mom Caroline bought this one too. And Amelia looked so pretty in it!
Nothing is as cool as a cool uncleExcept maybe, – a cool uncle AND aunt! The family was ready to go out trick or treating! I had never been out trick or treating in America before, so I was excited. We were on post, so all the families were military, and it is nice to be in a neighborhood that is safe for the kids to run around. I wish people would dress up more often. It is just.. magical. Especially when you go by the house and the whole family is dressed up and ready to hand out candy! Kudos to this zombie family! I was expecting more elaborately decorated houses, as that’s what it looks like in the movies, but I was kind of let down. Only a few houses had bothered, and very few had gone all out. But I did appreciate some of the creativity and humor. Picture of the day. Rick and some strangers cuddling this pretty kitty. … who also had his Halloween face ready. Rick and I spent most of our time commenting on people’s costumes. The best thing was the kids faces when we would yell; “LOOK! IT’S SNOW WHITE! SHE IS SO MUCH PRETTIER IN PERSON!” or; “OH MY GOD! IT’S BATMAN!” the kids loved it.
Despite the rain, it was great fun, and we did end up with a HUGE pile of candy, Nicole gave us some to take home, and we went home and pigged out while watching scary movies in bed, like two silly children.
